Dear Minister Dix:
Now is the time to pivot to a COVIDZero strategy
Congratulations on your re-election and retaining the post of Minister of Health. Every election has
consequences and this one is consequential in the extreme for every facet of life for
each and every person living in British Columbia. In your mandate letter there is a line that says one of
your responsibilities is to “control and eliminate the spread of COVID-19 in B.C.”. Clearly we are
failing at this at the moment despite the best efforts of the majority of the public, heroic contributions by
healthcare workers and outstanding service from 'essential workers' who driver our buses,
ring up our groceries and staff our schools and daycares. Every region in the province is showing
alarming growth in cases and we have more people in hospital now than at our spring peak when we
knew far less about the virus. Deaths are rising quickly and there is precious little good news.
